First it was candles, then it was sand, now it is time for unity trees!
When it comes time to do the unity part of the ceremony, the couple comes over to another table where the tree, some dirt, and some water are placed, and plant their tree in a pot. (I suggest the bride handling the water and having minimal dirt involved). Some couples choose to bring dirt from each of their parents’ houses as a symbol of the families joining. If you need help on introducing your guests to what you are about to do, here are some wording suggestions.
The tree can be planted in the ground later at the newlyweds’ house, that way the tree can grow as their relationship continues to grow!
